LaTeX template
spacer

The Library currently provides a LaTeX template for students to use to help in the creation of dissertations and theses using LaTeX.

LaTeX is not required for dissertations and theses.  It is only used by students who need it for for the formatting of formulas or graphs in their reports.  If you are not familiar with LaTeX, then there is no need to use the LaTeX template.  Regular word processing software alone is sufficient for most reports.  We currently do not have a Microsoft Word thesis or dissertation template.

Some modifications may be necessary to get the template to work on your system, and some packages may need to be downloaded.  This template was created using TeXMaker, and is currently setup to create a pdf of the report.  It has been tested with TexMaker and TeXworks.

The following packages are used:  fancyhdr, graphics, amssymb, setspace.

The files used in the template are as follows:  steventhesis_num.tex (main program),

titlepage.sty, pgnumchapter_nums.sty, symbols.tex  (all used to aid in formatting).

A zip file LatexDissertation.zip containing all the above files plus a BibTeX bibliography, images and tables formatted for dissertations is available.

A zip file LatexMasters.zip containing all the above files plus a BibTeX bibliography, images and tables formatted for a masters thesis is available.

Please see the comments in the programs to help you figure out what to change to remove the defaults.
