Stevens President Nariman Farvardin Wins CUPA-HR 2023 Chief Executive HR Champion Award

Embodying Stevens Institute of Technology’s mindset of “excellence in all we do,” President Nariman Farvardin recently received the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) 2023 Chief Executive HR Champion Award.

The Chief Executive HR Champion Award honors a president or chancellor of a higher education institution who has demonstrated significant support for their institution’s human resources function. CUPA-HR is also gifting Farvardin $8,000 to use for any Stevens program.

“President Farvardin has built a culture throughout the university that empowers, recognizes and rewards excellence, teamwork and innovation,” says Sheraine Gilliam, Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer. “The significant investment into our people and improving the employee experience demonstrates President Farvardin's people-centric leadership style and desire to create a workplace where people feel valued and rewarded for their dedication and contributions.”

Noting Stevens’ institutional transformation during his tenure as president, CUPA-HR credits Stevens’ success to Farvardin’s investment in professional development initiatives; his support and appreciation of a diverse and flexible workforce; and his accessible and approachable leadership through events such as “Conversation with the President” and monthly informal lunches with new faculty.

CUPA-HR serves higher education by providing the knowledge, resources, advocacy and connections to achieve organizational and workforce excellence. Their membership includes more than 34,000 HR professionals and other campus leaders at nearly 2,000 member institutions and organizations around the country and abroad. The association offers learning and professional development programs, higher education workforce data, extensive online resources and just-in-time regulatory and legislative information.
