Online classes at Stevens are instructor-led, and run in the same way as classes are on campus. Complete the course requirements when it's convenient for you. The dedicated student who takes his or her responsibilities seriously will do well as an online student. e-Learning is just as challenging as going to class on campus.

COMMUNICATING ONLINE

    * You will communicate with your professor and classmates largely by e-mail, or through threaded discussions, attaching files and using other electronic communication tools 24 hours a day.
    * Turning to your online classmates is the best way to use this format. Engage in wide-ranging discussion, collaborate with your classmates, and you will enhance your experience, sharpen your knowledge, and deepen your academic experience.

YOUR ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM

    * Stevens employs Interwise to access your virtual classroom, one of the world's most widely used course management systems. Interwise is an award-winning application used by universities and corporations around the world. Interwise provides all the communication tools you need, such as email and threaded discussions. Each course begins with Orientation Week, when you will familiarize yourself with Interwise, your textbooks and other materials, as well as update your online information.

    * Visit the Stevens Campus Store’s online book ordering site and select 2009BSIT-SUM.1 in the term field. Then locate your course number and you’ll be able to find and order the required textbooks.

Physics for Scientists and Engineers: A Strategic Approach, Vol 1 (Chs 1-15) and Vol 4 (Chs 26-37), with MasteringPhysicsR, 2nd Edition By Randall D. Knight -- Enter ISBN 0321631544 after entering the website. Vol 4 is used in your second course, PEP112.

If you are only planning to take this course and think it unlikely you will attend Stevens you only need Vol 1. The ISBN # is 0321516621.
