Howard Oringer
MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR THE COMMUNICATIONS CAPITAL GROUP
Howard Oringer is the Managing Director of Communications Capital Group, a consulting and venture capital business. Mr. Oringer earned his Bachelor of Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology in 1962, a Master of Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration at Santa Clara University.
During his 35 year career in the Telecommunications Industry, Mr. Oringer focused his energies in the newly emerging wireless segment. Beginning with AT&T and ending as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for TeleSciences, he was instrumental in developing new technologies and markets benefiting from the mobility afforded by wireless systems.
Mr. Oringer is a founder, with his wife, of the Omnia Foundation, a private family foundation providing non-profits with funding for projects in the area of criminal justice reform in California, with an emphasis on advocacy to reduce mass incarceration as a solution for societal problems. He is also a Fellowship Advisor at the California Institute of Technology for the Oringer Fellowship in Information Science and Technology.
In addition, Mr. Oringer is a Trustee Emeritus at the San Francisco Art Institute, an educational institution providing Bachelor and Masters degrees in the fine arts. As a technologist and entrepreneur, Mr. Oringer identifies the Art Institute as a “laboratory for creative developments in the arts. It’s focus on innovation combined with a strong emphasis on critical thinking provides for a unique arts environment.”
