About Garrett Brown
Garrett Brown is the visionary inventor of the Steadicam, a revolutionary camera stabilizer that transformed the way movies are made by enabling smooth, fluid shots without traditional dolly tracks. The Steadicam, featured in nearly 100 films including Rocky and The Shining, is hailed as one of the most significant innovations in the history of filmmaking.
Brown’s contributions to the industry have earned him four Oscars, five Emmys, and numerous accolades, including induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame and the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame. In addition to the Steadicam, he holds over 120 patents for groundbreaking devices like Skycam, Divecam, and the Zeen mobility device, named one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2023.
