Project A: ESG Impact - Linking Sustainability to Financial Success, Mrudula Mallidi ’24
ABSTRACT
The study investigates the correlation between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and financial performance across five critical industries: Technology, Finance, Energy, Consumer Goods/Retail, and Healthcare. Utilizing data from 2019 to 2022 for 50 companies—10 in each sector—the analysis leverages financial metrics sourced from S&P Capital IQ and ESG scores provided by Refinitiv, accessed via Wharton Research Data Services. Through rigorous statistical methodologies, including factor analysis, regression models, and time series analysis, the study identifies and explicates sector-specific trends and nuances that illustrate how ESG integration influences profitability. This sector-focused approach allows for a granular examination of the interplay between sustainable practices and financial outcomes, setting this work apart from broader, less differentiated analyses. Furthermore, the report enhances quantitative findings with qualitative case studies, highlighting real-world applications and implications of ESG initiatives within these sectors. Aimed at businesses, investors, and policymakers, this comprehensive analysis not only maps existing correlations but also provides actionable insights, promoting a deeper understanding of the strategic value of sustainability in business.
Project B: Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for the Contract W-32810: Design-Build Services for PA Phase 0 - Upgrade 71 Stations, Isabella Colacioppo
ABSTRACT
This project was to develop an EMP to define the environmental requirements, regulations, activities, impacts, risks, processes, and implications of the PA Phase 0 - Upgrade 71 Stations Project. The purpose of the EMP is to develop a framework for achieving the environmental requirements and objectives while complying with applicable regulations and communicating these implications to other project members and stakeholders. The PA Phase 0 - Upgrade 71 Stations Project will deliver Public Address Customer Information Screens (PACIS-2) capability to 71 B-Division stations within the boroughs of Queens, Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn. This EMP will prepare project members to handle environmental incidents without jeopardizing the project outcome, increase the transparency of environmental risks, impacts, and opportunities, serve as a guide for future projects, and boost the organization’s reputation in the field of sustainability management.
