Class of 2024 Outcomes Report Shows Stevens Continues to Deliver on Early Career Opportunities, Salary
Nearly 97% of graduates achieved their desired outcome within six months of graduation
Isabel Hughes ’24, who recently started her career as a defensive engineering rotational associate at Prudential Financial, credits Stevens Institute of Technology with preparing her for success.
“My time at Stevens guided me towards my career aspirations. I gained a solid grasp of cybersecurity principles, which have provided me with the tools to adapt in an ever-changing digital world. Working as a course assistant deepened my understanding of teaching and mentoring effectively and the Career Center helped me refine my resume, ensuring it represented my skills and accomplishments when applying to internships and jobs,” she says. “I am equipped with the skills for a successful cybersecurity career and to face whatever challenges come my way.”
Hughes is not alone. With the recent release of The Undergraduate Class of 2024 Career Outcomes Report, Stevens has reinforced its position as a leading institution that successfully prepares students for their next steps: 96.8% of graduates achieved their desired outcome — either employment or graduate school — within six months of graduation. (Women graduates boasted an even higher outcomes rate of 98%.) The graduates entering the workforce begin their careers with an average salary of $84,800.
“At Stevens, we build on our students’ strong academic foundation to bridge classroom learning with real-world experience that makes them competitive across industries,” says Executive Director of the Stevens Career Center Cherena Walker. “The vast majority — 82% — of employed graduates from the Class of 2024 completed at least one work experience before graduation — including internships, co-op jobs or summer research — illustrating Stevens’ commitment to preparing our students for an increasingly complex and technology-centric world.”
Cybersecurity majors achieved a 100% career outcomes rate with an average salary of $94,200 — the highest among all undergraduate majors — while graduates from the in-demand quantitative finance program also achieved a 100% outcomes rate with an average salary of $91,100. Other programs with a 100% outcomes rate include civil engineering, engineering management, software engineering, chemical biology, visual arts & technology and more.
The report also highlights the impressive companies that hired two or more members of the Class of 2024, including Bank of America, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Lockheed Martin, Mastercard, PwC and Stryker, among others. Additionally, students pursuing advanced degrees are doing so at prestigious universities such as Carnegie Mellon, Georgetown University, Weill Cornell Medicine and, of course, Stevens Institute of Technology.
And the return on investment doesn’t stall after the initial outcomes: Stevens is ranked No. 17 nationally on Payscale’s College Salary Report, which takes into account median salaries of early career pay (0-5 years) and mid-career pay (10+ years), and No. 18 nationally on Payscale’s Best-Value Colleges Ranked by ROI list, which looks at the 20-year salary earnings of alumni minus the total investment of attendance.
“Our commitment to excellence in all we do, inside and outside of the classroom, is recognized by employers who recruit our graduates,” says Stevens President Nariman Farvardin. “Our technology-centric curriculum, record-breaking research activities and focus on preparing leaders for the innovation economy have resulted in this remarkable 96.8% career outcomes rate. This success demonstrates how Stevens graduates advance technology to solve complex challenges and create meaningful impact for our world.”
While the statistics provide the proof points, it’s the individual experiences that truly tell the story. Arjun Koshal ’24, who majored in quantitative finance and now works at Merck as a statistical programming scientist, attributes his success to the holistic Stevens experience.
“The rigorous coursework and engaging research opportunities helped me gain a sturdy foundation of classroom knowledge, and the invaluable help and encouragement of my peers and mentors allowed me to hone many problem-solving and collaboration skills that I applied to real-world challenges. Along with the positive environment at Stevens, I attained a vast skillset that would help me thrive in the technology industry,” he says. “My time at Stevens has shaped me into the best version of myself.”
