For the Third Year, Stevens Institute of Technology Earns 2025 Great Place To Work Certification™
The certification reflects the university’s commitment to improving employee experience and fostering collaboration
Hoboken, N.J., April 9, 2025 – Stevens Institute of Technology is proud to be Certified™ by Great Place To Work® for the third year in a row. The prestigious award is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at Stevens. This year, 81% of employees said it’s a great place to work – compared to 57% at the average U.S. company.
Great Place To Work® is the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience and the leadership behaviors proven to deliver market-leading revenue, employee retention and increased innovation.
"Great Place To Work Certification is a highly coveted achievement that requires consistent and intentional dedication to the overall employee experience," says Sarah Lewis-Kulin, the vice president of Global Recognition at Great Place To Work. She emphasizes that Certification is the sole official recognition earned by the real-time feedback of employees regarding their company culture. “By successfully earning this recognition, it is evident that Stevens stands out as one of the top companies to work for, providing a great workplace environment for its employees."
"Achieving the Great Place to Work Certification for the third consecutive year reflects our community's unwavering commitment to excellence and collaboration," said Nariman Farvardin, president of Stevens. "Our faculty and staff are the heart of Stevens, creating an environment where innovation thrives and meaningful work happens every day. As we execute on our strategic plan, this recognition affirms that we're not only educating leaders of tomorrow, but nurturing a workplace culture where everyone can contribute to their fullest potential."
"This third-year certification validates what we experience daily at Stevens — a vibrant community where professional growth and personal well-being go hand in hand," said Sheraine Gilliam, vice president and chief human resources officer at Stevens. "The 24-point advantage over the national average speaks volumes about our distinctive culture. We're committed to continuing this journey, addressing new opportunities for workplace enhancement, and ensuring Stevens remains not just a great place to work, but an exceptional place where careers flourish and meaningful connections form."
Building on the previous year’s gains in employee satisfaction metrics, continued improvement in several employee-identified focus areas were instrumental to achieving this certification milestone: fair compensation, inclusive decision-making and transparent communication. For example, the HR team completed a comprehensive faculty and staff compensation study, through which they modernized Stevens’ compensation philosophy, aligned salaries with market standards, expanded our staff salary structure, strengthened the university’s pay-for-performance culture and enhanced transparency around our compensation practices. Throughout this effort, Stevens has maintained a dedication to inclusive decision-making by actively engaging stakeholders at all levels in university-wide initiatives.
According to Great Place To Work research, job seekers are 4.5 times more likely to find a great boss at a Certified great workplace. Additionally, employees at Certified workplaces are 93% more likely to look forward to coming to work, and are twice as likely to be paid fairly, earn a fair share of the company’s profits and have a fair chance at promotion.
