Stevens Is Top 10 in the Nation for ROI According to ‘U.S. News’

With an ROI value of $3.603 million 40 years after enrollment, Stevens ranks No. 9 nationally

U.S. News & World Report has placed Stevens at No. 9 in the nation for return on investment 40 years after enrollment. This new ranking is based on the recently released Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce report, “Ranking 4,600 Colleges by ROI (2025).”

According to the Georgetown report, the ROI for a Stevens degree is $3.603 million at 40 years, a value comparable to that of other prestigious universities, such as Stanford University (No. 6), Carnegie Mellon University (No. 7) and Princeton University (No. 3).

Using College Scorecard data to calculate the value of a credential from 4,600 colleges, the Georgetown report includes traditional two-year and four-year public and private colleges, as well as for-profit colleges and training academies. The measure essentially calculates the cumulative sum of earnings minus the total out-of-pocket costs based on the average net price of the institution at 10-, 15-, 20-, 30- and 40-year intervals following initial enrollment at an institution.

“It is the hallmark of a Stevens education that our graduates are among the most comprehensively prepared, educationally resilient and technologically savvy graduates — not only in the nation, but in the world,” says Stevens President Nariman Farvardin. “Our position as a forward-looking tech institution requires that our students have a fundamental understanding of the technological fields shaping the future, which makes their degree incredibly valuable throughout their entire professional career, from right after graduation through retirement.”

The Class of 2024 Outcomes Report shows that 96.8% of Stevens graduates secured jobs or admission to graduate school within six months of graduation with an average salary of $84,800. Salaries for in-demand degrees were even higher, with cybersecurity majors averaging a salary of $94,200 and quantitative finance majors averaging a salary of $91,000. Both degree programs achieved a 100% career outcomes rate.

Ranking No. 76 on U.S. News’ Best National University Rankings, Stevens also ranks No. 17 among top colleges with highest-paid graduates on Payscale’s College Salary Report and No. 18 among “Best-value colleges ranked by ROI” and No. 1 in “Best-value Colleges in New Jersey,” both on Payscale’s College ROI Report.
