FERPA Information
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
Health Insurance Information
For information of the Stevens Health Insurance Plan, please contact University Health Plans at (800) 437-6448.
Stevens Institute of Technology requires that all undergraduate students, international students, and all full-time graduate students have health insurance, and will charge health insurance every start semester and subsequent Fall semesters. For more information on the Stevens Health Insurance Plan, please contact University Health Plans at (800) 437-6448 or visit universityhealthplans.com.
Students with proof of comparable coverage are eligible to waive the student health insurance. Students who are enrolled for coverage with University Health Plans must use the Temporary Policy Information located in their brochure for their Undergraduate or Graduate class level until they receive their permanent insurance ID card.
Students that do not waive the health insurance by the appropriate deadlines will result in an automatic enrollment into the student health insurance plan and the student's account will be charged accordingly.
Students who have waived the health insurance will not be able to enroll in the health insurance plan after these deadlines unless there is a qualifying event that makes them eligible to enroll. For additional information regarding enrollment, please contact University Health Plans at 800-437-6448.
Authorized Party
Stevens maintains an online system with Nelnet that allows students to enable their parents, spouse, guardians, or other third parties to view account activity, make payments and set up payment plans on their behalf as an Authorized Party. Only students can authorize a third party on their Nelnet account. Students must first set up their profile with Nelnet and then they can add an Authorized Party. Visit our Workday Student + Nelnet page for more information.
