Active Minds Winners 2022In 2022, Stevens was chosen as one of five institute of higher education nationwide to receive the prestigious Active Minds Healthy Campus Award, which recognizes Stevens’ commitment to the physical and mental health of its students and as “one of the healthiest college campuses in the nation.” Active Minds is a leader in its support of mental health awareness and education for young adults. ""In 2023, Stevens was awarded a grant of over $300,000 by the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education to advance new initiatives in support of student mental health at Stevens. To date, advances made possible by this funding include partnerships with local psychotherapy practices in Hudson County to reduce the cost or cover the cost of treatment for students who need financial support; hiring a part-time care coordinator in CAPS to work with students to match them with reduced-cost or free treatment with local providers; continuing Stevens’ relationship with the JED Foundation; and yoga and mindfulness options for students in person through free local classes, as well as using virtual reality headsets.
