Check AI
Check AI is an artificial intelligence system designed to detect, track and prevent the spread of misinformation on social media platforms. The project addresses the growing problem of “fake news” and its harmful societal impacts, including economic damage such as the estimated $50-300 billion cost to the U.S. from COVID-19 misinformation. The system targets three key audiences: social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), social media users frustrated by fake news and government/policymakers concerned about misinformation's political and environmental effects. Unlike existing AI solutions that struggle with processing time, context comprehension and deepfake detection, Check AI analyzes content using keywords to search trusted sources and fact-checking websites. When implemented on social media, Check AI flags potentially misleading content with a truthfulness score, incorporates user feedback through polls to avoid bias and misinterpreting sarcasm, provides verified sources for further research and displays content warnings for harmful misinformation.
