ABSTRACT: The dual energy challenge – to provide energy to a growing global middle class who are eager to improve their quality of life, while reducing emissions into the environment – is a difficult challenge. To meet the strong and growing demand for both affordable and reliable energy and to meet a 2°C pathway will take significant technological advances from all energy sectors: electricity generation, transportation, and industrial.
ExxonMobil is pursuing a variety of research efforts that could lead to scalable CO2 emissions-reducing technologies by focusing on the underlying fundamental science and engineering problems that must be overcome in order to solve the dual energy challenge.
This presentation will examine ExxonMobil’s history of innovation in this area and highlight some of the company’s research aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
