Kathy L. Schulz, Esq.
Kathy L. Schulz, Esq., was appointed Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Stevens Institute of Technology in September 2010. She is responsible for all legal matters on behalf of the University and serves as Secretary to the University's Board of Trustees.
Before joining Stevens, Ms. Schulz served as Associate General Counsel at Yale University from 2008 to 2010, and as Associate General Counsel at New York University from 1994 to 2008. During her career in higher education, Ms. Schulz has practiced extensively in the areas of non-profit corporate law and taxation, copyright matters involving online education, publishing, libraries and archives, patent licensing and other aspects of the technology transfer process, trademark protection, corporate transactions including tax-exempt bond transactions, and international research and educational activities.
From 1987 to 1994, Ms. Schulz practiced at Debevoise & Plimpton in NYC, specializing in corporate finance. She received her B.A. from Ramapo College of New Jersey, cum laude, in 1983, and her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University, magna cum laude, in 1987. She is admitted to practice in New York and is admitted as in-house counsel in the State of New Jersey.
