No Show & Late Arrival Policy

No Show & Late Arrival Policy

Effective February 3, 2025

The Stevens Career Center strives to provide an exceptional experience for every student. The Stevens Career Center's No Show and Late Arrival Policy is designed to reduce the number of students who do not show up or arrive late for career coaching appointments, career workshops and employer events.

Career Coaching Appointments, Career Workshops and Employer Events

Students are expected to arrive on time or cancel the appointment or registration in Handshake at least four (4) hours before the start time. If a student does not check-in for the appointment or event or the student arrives more than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time, the student will be marked as a “NO SHOW”.

Penalty for No Shows and Late Arrivals

Blocked Handshake Account

The Career Center will BLOCK the Handshake account for any student who receives three (3) NO SHOWS or LATE ARRIVALS during a semester for any combination of career coaching appointments, career development events, and employer recruiting events. The student's Handshake account will remain blocked for the entire semester.

When a Handshake account is blocked, the student cannot apply to jobs on Handshake, register to attend events, or schedule appointments to meet with a career coach.

Regaining Access To Handshake

The student's Handshake account will remain blocked for the entire semester and will be reactivated on the first day of classes in the next semester.

Permanently Losing Access to Handshake

If a student’s Handshake account is blocked two times for not adhering to the No Show and Late Arrival Policy, the student will permanently lose access to Handshake for the remainder of their time at Stevens.
